“Rapid Response to the Needs of Population Displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh’’ Program

The Disaster Risk Reduction National Platform Foundation implemented this program in partnership with Democracy International and with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The main objective of the program was to support the population forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh by identifying their priority needs and providing appropriate assistance.

The program was implemented from November 10, 2023 to May 8, 2024.

The target groups of the program were families displaced to the consolidated communities of Dilijan and Ijevan, as well as to the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan, totaling approximately 1,060 families (around 4,000 individuals). The geographical coverage of assistance was determined in coordination and agreement with theRA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MLSA) and other partner organizations providing support.

During the first phase of the program, in close cooperation with the RA MLSA, Yerevan Municipality, and the municipalities of Dilijan and Ijevan, the type of assistance aimed at meeting urgent needs was determined based on the information provided by these institutions.

As a result, food, hygiene, and baby care packages were distributed to the target communities. The distribution process was accompanied by a needs assessment of beneficiaries, which served as the basis for defining the type of assistance provided in the second phase of the program.

*In the first phase, assistance in Yerevan was provided only to families residing in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district, while in the second phase, assistance was provided to families residing in all administrative districts.

Another important initiative implemented within the program

To raise awareness among beneficiaries, an informational leaflet was developed, which included information on educational, employment, healthcare, and humanitarian support available to the population displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. The leaflet was printed and distributed to beneficiaries during aid distribution.
